About Kimberly Hughes

Kimberly Hughes, M.S.Ed., CHt, C.I.R.S.
I have Gemini on my midheaven in my astrological chart, which means I can’t seem to do just one thing for a living! My inner self has guided me in many directions.
We are like diamonds; we have more joy and beauty when light shines through every facet!
Since 1980 I have helped humans in colleges, nonprofits, churches, employee assistance programs, social services, career counseling centers, government and in corporations.
Over time I wanted to work in my own way with people, minus the limitations of institutions and systems.
So in 1995 I founded Sacred Self Living, and have been honored to serve hundreds of people, couples, and small groups since then.
I describe myself as “spiritually promiscuous” and in love with the mystical “chewy center” of many traditions.
I’ve spent time in Navajo ceremony, Blackfoot sweat lodges, Hindu ashrams, sung in Jewish synagogues, celebrated with Peruvian ayahuasqueros, traveled to the Mary Magdalene sites in France, toured the Goddess centers in Glastonbury, England, and love all forms of the Divine Feminine as well as the mystical Christ Consciousness. I am a pipe carrier in the First People’s tradition of North America, taught by Lumbee Elder Sharon Oxendine.
I have great respect for each individual’s unique and winding path to their own Sacred Guidance.

I’ve also been a professional soprano on opera stages, in recital halls, and in sacred institutions. In 2018 I collaborated with composer/poet Annelinde Metzner, and we recorded seven of her gorgeous songs in the “Feminine Faces of God” concert. You can buy that CD in our shop.
While living in NYC, I performed leading roles in operas and musicals. There I recorded a CD of my favorites, called True Voice, which includes pieces from opera, spirituals, and art songs. See it in our shop.
In 2014 I was privileged to sing with world-famous recording artist (The Feminine Voice of the Native Flute) Marina Raye, on the CD “Return to Innocence”, which can be found here.
This love for music and singing has now expanded to the practice of sound healing, which I studied with American sound shaman Tom Kenyon and Indian sound master Sri Shyamji Bhatnagar. I use voice, toning, quartz crystal singing bowls and drums.
In 2008, I co-founded White Horse Black Mountain, a beautiful music venue near Asheville, North Carolina, which offers beautiful live music and offers benefit concerts to support life-affirming causes.

I was in New York City on 9/11/2001, and became a grassroots activist and citizen advocate as a result. I give my time to causes like the climate emergency, voting rights, and health medical freedom.
I’ve also worked with United Way as a social worker to reduce the impact of poverty in the Appalachian Mountains.
